Soho Editions
Elliot Burns is the president of Soho Editions, one of America’s leading publishers of fine art limited editions. Founded in 1986 in a loft at the corner of Broadway and Prince Street in New York City’s Soho Arts District, Soho Editions celebrated its 38th anniversary in 2024.
Soho pioneered the use of hand-enhanced prints on canvas, publishing the first ever hand-enhanced serigraph on canvas print, “Nafplio Light”, by Howard Behrens, in 1988. Soho continued to be an industry leader in the development and popularization of hybrid printing techniques through the 1990's. In addition to the introduction of enhanced prints on canvas, Soho has used hot-stamping, embossing (Lillian Shao), hand-painted hand-cast paper (Leslie Lew), and prints on silk.
Having introduced Howard Behrens to print collectors in its founding year, Soho has gone on to publish over 500 editions by 20 artists from 6 different countries including Howard Behrens, Viktor Shvaiko, Sam Park, Thomas Stiltz, Malcolm Farley and Vladimir Volegov. Soho’s publications, posters and licensed images are sold in over 20 countries and have been represented by over one hundred and fifty galleries.
Soho images have been licensed by the NFL, Major League Baseball, Opus One and the estates of Mickey Mantle, James Dean, Babe Ruth, and others. Paintings and publications by Soho artists have been autographed by almost every major sports legend including Wayne Gretzky, Tiger Woods, Derek Jeter, Tom Brady, Peyton and Eli Manning and others. Soho has published three sold-out books: “Howard Behrens: An Artist’s View of the World”, “Viktor Shvaiko: Journey to the West” and “Sam Park: New Impressionism”. Soho has just released its fourth art book, “Viktor Shvaiko: Walking through Time”
Soho, its president, and its artists have been the subject of numerous articles in Art Business News, Art World News, Wine Spectator, American Artist, New York Times and many other publications.
